Sometimes I get nostalgic When I’m wasting time. I think of how we’d hang out With nothing on our minds ‘cept what if, why, and how things got so messed up. No need to make decisions, But now… Remembering a sunset A smile upon your face Lit up my emotions While the darkness took place. I wonder what it’d be like If we went back in time. Could we make it right? Or would we fuck it up again? But now there’s no time for contemplation. I’m sick of all this anticipation. Is this the real world? When did I grow up? I still have questions. Things weren’t what they used to be, But we’re here now. Dropping quarters at the arcade Listening to a new CD That’s how we used to kill time, Now time is killing me. I got the latest cell phone It answers itself. But it asks so many questions I leave it on the shelf. Chorus Solo These memories serve a purpose. We learn to recognize when something is a costume and when it's a disguise. How can you tell the difference? Get the latest update. Gotta make the papers. What is the deadline? Someone get a crash cart... I'm about to flatline.

I’ve got a long list Of things to do before I die It’s pointless, But I check each one off that I try. Every time I achieve a new trick up my sleeve There’s another button coming undone. then you, you come outta nowhere and now I share what once was mine and less is more infinite time to dream what we can do and do what dreams come true It’s endless The amount of junk I got on my desk. And I’m restless So I wrestle with the meaninglessness There’s no way to relate. I feel like a fake, And I can’t afford to make a mistake. chorus I’ve got a long list Of things to do before I die I raise a tight fist And beat a rhythm into the sky The rain starts to fall and I hear the call Of music coming out of the air.

about

Call it old-fashioned. Aron Van Alstine plays rock'n'roll with hints of punk, folk, Motown, and pop. Sometimes earnest, sometimes ironic, his songwriting is full of surprises. Combine that with the power, the dynamics, and the shear enthusiasm of The Guildsmen, and you get music that is both gritty and uplifting.
